A Birthday, Parties, Field Trips & Halloween

Dakota is 15!  How did THAT happen?
Not sure, but it's crazy!  He is soooo a teenager
and of course can't wait to drive!
He is loving high school and is a good kid that
I don't have to worry about!
I'm very thankful and blessed!
Didn't do too much for his birthday...
presents of course!
and  a cake with pink icing!

 Forest Ridge had their Falcanpalooza
and Kye and Kru had a blast!

My school had a fall dance, Fallapalooza, and
Dakota was invited! Talk about fun! We danced for
4 hours and had a great time!

Kye had a museum day and was a caveman!
Kru had a field trip to the Oil Ranch!
I was able to go along and even though it was chilly,
we had some fun! He milked a real cow with success,
fed cows and goats, rode a train and hayride!

I loved being able to go along!
 And then, Halloween!
 Our church, Connecting Point, participated/sponsored
BooFest again this year. This was our 1st time to go.
Dakota trying to "win" a trip!
Nice pitch!

And then the night, of trick or treating!

Dakota's idea of trick or treating!
At Kru's teacher's, Miss Farnie, house
And then today, I was able to go with Kye's
class to the Renaissance Festival.  It was his
first time and he loved it!
Shootin' some paint ball guns with Thomas,
Bryce and Caleb!  Look at Kye's intensity!
Of course we had to see the animals!  He wanted
to ride the elephants and horses as well, but
the petting zoo had to do!
Cheering for the blue knight at the joust!
He didn't win :0( Kye was bummed!
 Kye and his buddy, Caleb!
 It was a great day!
I'm super thankful that I was able to spend a
day with Kye and Kru!  One on one time
is rare, but really important!

Kye's Fall Sing-a-Long - 70s Style

Friday, Kye's school had their Fall Sing-a-Long!
70's Style!!!
Kye was totally groovy and felt it 100%!!!
Between "I Will Survive", "Boogie Fever",
and "YMCA", it was a great show!
He looked super!
And as I said, was feelin' the beat!!!
If you know my Kye at all,
you know he loves to sing and dance!
Needless to say, this was a pretty good day for him!!
Love you, Kye-Kye!
You did a fabulous job!!!
P.S.
Thanks to Ms. Cindy for the groovy vest!
It accented the afro perfectly!! ;o)

3 weeks in....

No pictures to post,

no real news to share.

Just wanted to mention what the boys are up to!

Dakota-
football! He is practicing 5-6 times a week! His ankles are sore, but he is hanging in there with ice, ace bandages, ankle supports and epsom salt! He is enjoying it! His first game is next Monday, not sure what string he is on yet, but of course he hopes he will be starting as a cornerback but I'll let you know! We will attempt to get pictures of him in his uniform on here eventually!
homework! He usually has homework every night!
youth group - this week, Dakota starts youth and I'm sure he will be busy with that as well!

Kye-
This 3rd week of school is a little less fun than last year. I think he is realizing that there is more to do in school than what Kindergarten entailed! :O) But, we press on! Making sure that we stick to bedtime is super important for the sanity of everyone come around 4:00 in the afternoons!
We are anxiously awaiting news of when gymnastic classes will begin! Will add pictures when we have some!
Awana - Kye will be a Spark again this year and will be working on memorizing the books of the Bible right away!

Kru-
Kru is into his 2nd week of school. He loves it! Everyday he comes home with at least 2 paintings all the while telling me he likes his school! :O) Kru-man is tired though! On the way home from picking up Dakota from football around 5:00, Kru falls asleep in the car! But he loves school!
Soccer begins in a couple of weeks for Kru's first time! Darrin is actually coaching his U5 team! That should provide great entertainment! I will post pictures when I have some!
Cubbies - Kru will begin his 2nd year in Cubbies! He enjoys hearing the stories and saying his verse and of course snack!

That's a wrap up of the past 3 weeks!

It's Travelin' Time!!!

It is time to go!!!!

We leave early in the morning for Iowa!!!
We have a few stops to make along the way,
but Thanksgiving is coming!!!!!

We are headed to Granma and Pappy's
first to borrow their truck for the week.
We will leave Saturday for Lincoln,
for a quick stop to pick up some of
our stuff that we had to leave there 3 years ago!
(yea, I know, it's way over due!)

And then......
IOWA!!!!
To spend my favorite holiday with ALOT
of my favorite people, my Furne family!!

The boys are super excited as well!
(they forget how long the drive is)  ;)
But they love going to Iowa and seeing
the Furne side of the family!
Only seeing them once a year, makes it
super special to see them!

My dad and brother will fly in as well!!
We are praying that the van cooperates
at least to Arkansas!
And of course, we are praying for
SNOW!!!!
only while we are there, not to drive in! :)
Not too picky you know!

After we get home, I will try to post some
pictures before all the Christmas
business begins!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

Mom, I'm REALLY cold!!!!

You know your child is a Texan when...
he HATES the cold.
Yes, Kru-man is definitely a Texas kid!
Moving here shortly after his 1st birthday,
he doesn't remember the cold of Nebraska!

He hates being cold!
This weekend was pretty much miserable for him.
"I don't want to be cold!" he was saying
as he was crying!

He wants to wear shorts all the time and doesn't
like the long pants!  Again, proving that he
is a southern baby!

Yes, all of our blood has thinned since being here,
but all of us, except for Kru,
enjoy breaking out the long pants and jackets!

I think it also proves that no matter where you were born,
it's what you are used to, and Kru is most definitely used to
HOT and heat and Texas!

I think it's funny!

P.S.
You should hear his accent!
and I'm not so sure if I think that is funny!!! ;>)

Soccer Tournament

Yesterday, was Dakota's soccer tournament.
We had 2 games and possibly a 3rd if we went to the championship game.
Yesterday, was also the coldest of the year so far!
Yes, I am from Nebraska and no, it wasn't Nebraska cold, BUT it was Texas cold!
Yes, I have turned into a cold wimp and my blood has thinned in the 3 years living here, but it was a nippy 30 something degrees with the chilly wind blowing!
We headed out to the fields around 8:30 and after warming up, they boys won their first game!
Dakota scored twice! 5-0
Dakota had a fan section at the 1st game!
Thanks Jordan, Mary, Crystal, Nichole and Becky for coming out
to support Dakota!  and helping me with Kye and Kru!
Crystal
Mary, Kye and Becky

And then we came back at 1:00 for our second game and it was a good one!

Making one of your goals!
Nice lookin' corner kick!

It was still cold, but the boys played well and and won that game too 6-1.  Dakota scored 3 times!  2 shots were so pretty, but I was busy cheering that I didn't get a picture, but the boys were working so well as a team, passing and setting each other up!  It was great!

We were going to the championship game!  :) at 6:30, a night game!

I was worried that it would be really cold, but the wind stopped and it was chilly, but actually warmer than the earlier games!  The boys played well again and we won!!!  For the past 3 seasons, our team, Thunder, has been runner-up!  But this year, we are finally the champions!!!!

The boys were way excited!!!  Dakota made 2 assists and the score was 3-1.

We just won the championship game!!!
Dakota and best friend, Roberto!

We got our medals!!!!

The Score Board!!!
Way to go Blue Thunder!!!!

Kye's Fall Sing-a-Long

Forest Ridge had its 50s fall sing-a-long on Friday.
The 8 Kindergarten classes sang,
"How much is that Doggy in the Window"
hence the dog ears!
Kye, who loves to sing, was not shy at all and
did a fabulous job.  He was standing in the 3rd
row back, so I couldn't get that good of pictures, but
he did great!  I even took video, but I can't figure
out what is wrong with it, I can only hear it not see it!
So no video! :(
He knew all of the words and did all of the motions!
So cute!
After the 1st and 2nd graders did their pieces,
all 400 some kids sang the Twist and
You Should Have Known and then the school song,
Fabulous Falcons!

All the teachers were in costume as well and this is
Kye's teacher, Mrs. Birkenhoff.
